Is Presidency university bangalore good for MBA
Hello Shaiju, hope you are doing well. Presidency college is a private college. It has medium scale ratinrs. According to some students here, it is better to choose another college because of the following :-
- It’s a private autonomous university, meaning they can play with your life if you mess around. Many students are being given a year back due to attendance shortage in two subjects.
- Faculty maybe great but again the crowd isn’t that encouraging in terms of studies . Very few students are interested in research aspects or doing something of value. And the rules are as such that you can’t actively take part in competitions and seminars outside on your interest during college time even if you do you will lose attendance so fests/seminars/paper presentation can only be done within 25% attendance because you have to maintain 75% attendance at any cost else you’ll get a year back or you might have to repeat the semester.
- Rules are pretty strict you’ll feel like a school kid and it’s so annoying it ruins the whole vibe of being a university student. Rules like no loitering around, no siting at the canteen during class hours, No sports during free hours, Always wear ID card, Wear only formals during weekdays (if you wear jeans you are sent back home), If caught using mobile inside class Rs.1000 fine. Plus they have securities who think they are CRPF jawans doing duty and force you to follow all these rules.
- The canteen food is overpriced and not at all worth it, worst part you can’t leave the campus once you enter until 4 pm so you can’t have good food. Not to mention Hostel is the worst in terms of food and rules. You can’t enter the hostel after 7 pm. No music after 10 pm , Food is bad.
- You’re in the middle of no where, the university is situated in a village, the nearest decent food outlet is at least 6–8 kms away. It pretty tough for the students to have a comfortable student life in the university.
- Despite stating all these issues to the management they never try to make it better for the students because they are a new and growing university and they do not want a bad reputation.
- Education wise if you can follow all these rules with a straight mind and tolerate all of it, and if you are genuinely interested you can really study well because there are few faculty who are amazing, pretty friendly, young and they understand all our problems and help us out personally and in class.
- But as mentioned above the rules just kill the whole vibe and you get pretty frustrated and depressed after joining , sometimes the crowd isn’t what you expected either so it takes a long time to get adjusted.
- Don’t get enthusiastic seeing the infrastructure, because that’s the only good thing there. More like a very good looking mind prison.
- A lot of emphasis is given to numbers maintaining 75% attendance, maintaining CGPA above 5, but nothing towards quality and research. Hope it helps!!!
Hello Shaiju,
There are two types of MBA offered by Presidency college on the basis of University,
1) Bangalore University
2) Bharatiyar University.
The first one has 120 seats where 60 is for those are government seats ( those who has written PGCET Exam Karnataka via counselling) and the rest 60 are Management Quota.
The college has a placement cell. But i want to tell you that there are not much placement oppertunities in college. They don't provide provide very high and very good placement.
The college doesn’t allow any kind of irregularities ( absenteeism) as it very strictly follows Bangalore University rules of minimum attendance. ( avoid this college if you are not a regular attendee ).
Coming to faculties they are really good one, and a few of them have come from IIM and IIT.
The college doesn’t have a in house sports ground, but it has a good support for sports students.
If you are considering placement only the college is not so good. But yes faculties are nice in the college.
Good luck.
