No, NIT Silchar is an NIT, a government college with excellent facilities, and is very well known too, so companies, will prefer NIT Silchar over Presidency university candidate, provided you do well in the NIT. Presidency University is the state University with private ownership whereas the NIT Silchar is the institute of national importance with government ownership. The presidency University is good in placements and it follows the curriculum like BITS but NIT is an old institute.
If you are getting admission in NIT then you should go for it. People join presidency University when they don't get admission in IIT and NIT.
