Yes, a student with 83%in 12th is eligible to write IPMAT. In fact, they need only a minimum of 60% for general and OBC NAL category and a minimum of 55% in PWD and SC/ST category to appear in IPMAT. You also require 60% in your class 10 examinations for general and OBC NCL and 55% for SC/ST and PWD category. But make sure your age is within the limit that is 20 years.
To be eligible for IPMAT this year you should have passed 12th in 2017 or 2018 or should be appearing in 2019. Along with this, you should have a minimum of 60% in 10th and 12th ( 55% for people belonging to SC, ST, PwD category.)
IPMAT also has age criteria. You should be born on or after Aug 01 1999 (5 yrs relaxation for SC, ST, PwD category, born on or after aug 01, 1994)
