Thats pretty much unfair with us the ppl of all India quota because as per our aipmt module it has been clearly stated that any state ligations will not be applicable for AIQ students but Maharashtra Govt is complying is to serve rural service in maharasthra that is totally wrong !
As per the current rule, a medical graduate is allowed a window period of 6 extra years, so that the student can pursue post graduation and also super specialization and need not appear for rural postings just AFTER completing MBBS. But it has been found out that a lot of students have taken a disadvantage of this relaxation and have escaped rural service in the name of higher education. As such, maharashtra government doesn't have any track record of such people who have managed escaping successfully.
Keeping the above happenings In mind, the medical education secretary has forwarded a proposal to merge MBBS course with 1 year rural postings. This has also received a strong support from the MUHS.
Whether the proposal will become an established rule or not is yet to be declared.
