Is state level IIT have or not
Hello!!
India does not have "state-level IITs". IITs are independent public institutions of technology and science. They are autonomous institutions funded by the central government of India. They are all part of the same system and function according to a single structure administered by the IIT Council. There is no such thing called a state-level IIT under the present scheme.
About IITs :
- Centralized System: IITs are institutes owned by central governments; the management is dealt with by the central governing authorities. The administrative and funding burdens rest with central authorities, and the system is followed as per the national-level model of governance. Thus, a standard quality of education and research is maintained throughout the IITs.
- Admission: IIT admission is made centrally through the Joint Entrance Examination- JEE Main and the JEE Advanced, which are national-level entrance examinations. This ensures that all the IITs choose their students based on a uniform set of criteria and exams.
- Importance to the Nation: For reasons of excellence, be it academics or cutting-edge research and contributions to the nation in terms of technology and innovation, IITs rank among the best institutions in the country, both for engineering and even more so for their national and international impacts.
- State-Level Institutions: Although there are many excellent state-level engineering colleges and universities in India, they consist of a system that is quite different from IIT. Every state has state governments to administer and fund these state-level institutions that reserve and admit students and set their curricula.
- Recent Trends: The Indian Government has been establishing new IITs in different states which are technically still a part of the national IIT system. The purpose is to expand access to quality technical education in all parts of the country, yet all IITs remain centrally governed.
In essence, IITs are national institutions and centrally administered. There exists no IIT that can be considered as a state-level body.
Thankyou!!
