The college has a good ranking in NIRF, in fact it is ranked 29, which makes one of the top 30 institutes in India.  This ranking is based on overall performance and not department wise. So if you settle for SVMS it cannot be a bad choice.

If you take only MD General Medicine, then some of the better know colleges are:

• All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi

• Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore

• Madras Medical College – Chennai

• Armed Forces Medical College – Pune
