The JEE-Mains examination is held for admissions in the various UG Engineering course in India. if you want to take admissions in the IITs, you will have to clear Mains and secure a high rank in JEE-Advanced. However, you can get a great college like the NITs, IIITs and GFITs on the basis of your JEE-Mains scores. if you are confident about scoring high in Mains after taking a drop, I would say it is 100% worth it.
