Jadavpur university is a top government university in WB for engineering program.

According, to Careers 360 it has AAAA+ rating which means outstanding. (Ratings are provided on the basis of placements faculty, Cut-offs of national / state level Entrance exams, Accreditation and Reward status and Publication record from Elsevier’s indexing database - Scopus.)

If we compare lower NITs from Jadavpur university then it is better and if we compare from top NITs then both are equally good. You can choose the college according to your choice and preference or in which you are getting better branch.

Yeah definitely

1.it is a top state govt college which constantly features in rankings (9 by mhrd  in2017,11 by edurand,in the same bracket as of iit guwahati by times higer education,in top 5 university list,17 by outlook some years ago even though being a govt college,many a times it takes least interest in participation in rankings),which will convince you surely as an engineering aspirant ofcourse.

2.campus culture is just awesome,where you can devlop your any type of skills as well as personality

3.i think hype of political atmosphere is just circulated about this college,which is not so in reality i could assure(being a jadavpurian)

3.placement records are much better than middle and lower nit

4.all teachers are highly qualified and a lot of freedom is there to students such as exam dates to be finalized by students itself,to name a few

5.it is in metropolitan area where you can go for good coachings too ,for ies or gate or cat or gre etc which i think is most important.

6.fees is very low, just 5700 a year for btech course except in IT branch

7.large alumnni base and very good academic atmosphere where you see lot of talented guys of every field.

Note:f you get side branches,better to prefer good branc in nit,not because placement is poor,rather because you will feel low
