Pursuing graduation through distance mode can be a good option if you're wholly focused on qualifying UPSC exam, as you can start your preparation early and simultaneously you can continue with your graduation studies, basically for appearing in UPSC it doesn't have any specific criteria of belonging to any specific stream or aggregate for that matter, and if you're from arts background then you are already well acquainted with the syllabus which is an advantage for you, DU SOL is recognized by UGC, and the degree  is valid  hence even if you choose to appear for  any other government exams that would still be acceptable,

Well there is no good or any kind of extra benefit for you if you are doing your graduation through DU SOL. Yes, you will be eligible for appearing in upsc but there is no significant benefit. You will some extra time though so you can start preparing early and that can be an advantage.
