The total number of seats for EWS was increased in the year 2019 by the Govt.of India by creating supernumeric seats over UR seats by 10%.
However ,the total number of seats is meagrely changed from then in various IIT/NIT/IIIT/GFTIs as per Govt.of India rules and regulations.
For example,In 2019
if there are 100 Seats for General Candidates in a college, then according to the rule,
10% of 100=10 ,which means 10 seats will be added in subsequent years For EWS only, and to take the tally of seats to 100+10=110.
The total addition of seats is to be completed by the year 2024.
Overall, 10% of supernumeric seats created are to be provided to the EWS candidates.(w.e.f 2019) and no such increase is yet not notified
