Yes, it is true that if you haven't given your 10th from Assam, you won't be given a seat in medical colleges in assam despite being a resident of assam.
I'm going to note down the eligibility criteria for you.
Nationality
- Applicant should be a registered citizen of Assam.
- Parent of the candidates must be living in Assam for not less than 20 years.
- The above condition will not be applicable to son/daughter of officers of All India Services working in Assam.
Academic Qualification
- Candidate must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English in 10+2 standard.
- Applicant must have passed 10+2 with 60% aggregate marks and for the candidates belonging to SC/ST(P)/ST(H)/OBC/MOBC the minimum required marks are 50%.
- The applicant must have studied from class 6 to 10 in the state of Assam.
- The candidate must have appeared and qualified NEET 2019 (http://exams.collegedunia.com/neet) .
Age
- Candidate must not be above 24 years or below 17 years of age on December 31, 2019.
- For SC/ST Candidates: The upper age limit mentioned above is relaxed by 3 years.
