Is the BSc honours is helpful to clear an UPSC exam ?
Hello,
UPSC is oldest public service examination. If you want to be a government officer like IPS, IAS, IFS, IRS you have to clear UPSC examination.
Now you want to know BSC honours is helpful or not. Look any subject is helpful for this examination. Because it's multiple subjects base examination. You have to mathematics, english, history, political science, sociology, general knowledge, current affairs etc. If you complete your graduation without BSC like MBBS or BTech or Bpharm then also you are eligible for UPSC. Because you have to study another way for this examination.
All the best.
The syllabus of UPSC tends to be more humanities oriented comprising subjects such as political science, history, geography, economics etc, the portion of science is limited, now in what sense BSc(Hons) can help in UPSC, it can help you in preparing for optional subjects if you choose to do in physics, chemistry, mathematics, botany, zoology etc, as the syllabus of optional subject is equivalent to that of graduation level studies, so in that sense you'll be already well acquainted with the subject, the preparation process will become comparatively easier.
