Faculty:

You might think that all of the faculties of IEM teach at UEM. But no, that’s not correct because, if all of the faculty members of IEM teach at UEM, then who will teach at IEM? But yes, we have many faculty members from IEM who teach regularly at UEM. And we have a few faculty members of UEM who are even better than some of the faculties of IEM. And the faculty members are very much friendly and supportive. You can ask your doubts twice, thrice, many times, they will not get bothered. But, the Physics department is a little weak compared to the other departments of the university. We need some more good teachers in the Physics department. But, the good news is that we are often provided with faculty feedback forms where we can anonymously give feedback on the teaching of the faculty members :)

Infrastructure:

To be honest, the campus of UEM Kolkata is not very big. But, one thing I know is that companies will not give you jobs depending on how big your campus is. So, it should not be a big problem. Now, if you want to know about the infrastructure, let’s talk about the labs at first. All labs are equipped with enough equipment. And most of them are almost new (Since we are the 2nd batch of the university). Also, there are projectors and CCTV cameras in almost every classroom of the university. So, infrastructure-wise it is also good.

Placement:

Since it is a new university functioning only for 2 years, the students of this university are yet to sit for placement drive. But, if you study well, you have enough opportunities in placement because, the placement of UEM Kolkata will be conducted jointly with IEM. So, you can also get a job like a student of IEM if you study well in UEM Kolkata. Since, there is a chance that IEM students will grab more jobs in joint placement so, there will be a separate placement only for the students of UEM Kolkata after the joint placement with IEM. That means students of UEM Kolkata will get a chance to sit for placement 2 times: one placement with IEM and another is only for UEM. So, if you study well, you don’t need to worry about the placements.

Things for which you might like UEM Kolkata:

  1. Some of the best faculty members of West Bengal.
  2. Good infrastructure.
  3. Absolutely 0% ragging.
  4. You might bag a big salary like the students of IEM if you study well (Since there is a joint placement with IEM).
  5. You will get free coaching for various competitive exams like- GATE, CAT, UPSC etc. from the 1st year.
  6. Workshops and seminars are organized very frequently inside the campus.
  7. The fee for MBA program is 5.27lakh
  8. Things for which you might not like UEM Kolkata:

    1. Too much discipline and strictness.
    2. You have to attend assembly everyday.

Hello Piyush,

University of Engineering and Management, Kolkata is the oldest private engineering college in West Bengal. It offers programs like B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA which comes under AICTE, Govt. of INDIA.The MBA placement is not that extraordinary as engineering placements, providing average package of 3 to 4 LPA. The major recruiters are: CTS, Infosys, Wipro, PwC, KPMG, CMC Limited, IBM, HSBC, Nestle, HP, TCS and Vodafone. Although, the college is well known for his excellent engineering program comparatively, it's MBA program doesn't have such good reviews so I would advise you to enroll in a management college with excellent facilities. Good Luck!
