Is there any age limit to apply for NLU ?
CLAT is the entrance examination for admission to NLUs across India including NLU Cuttak. Now there is CLAT UG and CLAT PG. And for both CLAT UG and CLAT PG, there is no age limit. You just need to fulfil the educational qualification. For CLAT UG which is the entrance examination for admission to 5 year integrated LLB Programme, you should have completed your 12th or its equivalent from any recognised Institution. And you should have secured a minimum aggregate of 45% in your 12th. It is 45% for General Category, OBC, EWS and it is 40% for SC,ST Categories. For CLAT PG which is the entrance examination for admission to LLM Courses, again there is no age limit but you should have completed your Graduation from a University recognised by the Bar Council of India.And you should have secured a minimum aggregate of 55% in your Graduation. It is 55% for General Category, OBC, EWS and it is 45% for SC,ST Categories. There is also no cap on number of times you can appear for CALT. See if you want to do either any Undergraduate or any Postgraduate course from any of the NLUs then you have to appear for CLAT UG and CLAT PG respectively and should qualify it with good score.
If we talk about age limit for admission to NLUs through CLAT then as per the latest eligibility criteria prescribed by The Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLU), there is no age limit to appear in CLAT but you have to follow all the eligibility requirements as enlisted below :-
@CLAT UG
- Educational qualification: The candidate should have passed 10+2 or any equivalent exam from a recognized university or board. However, the candidates appearing in the qualifying exam may also appear in the Common Law Admission Test.
- Marks in qualifying exam: General category candidates need minimum 45% marks in the qualifying exam, while SC and ST candidates need only 40% marks.
@CLAT PG
- Educational Qualification - The candidate should have complete LLB graduation (3-year LLB or 5-year integrated LLB) from a university recognized by the Bar Council of India. Candidates appearing in the final year/semester of their graduation are also eligible to appear in the examination.
- Marks in qualifying exam: The candidate must score at least 50% marks in the qualifying exam. The SC and ST candidates are required to score at least 45% marks in the graduation (qualifying exam).
