EWS category means economical weaker sections category. If your family or parents income less than 8 lakh per annum then you will be belongs in EWS category. And EWS general category you will get another rank in JEE Mains examination. If you getting admission via EWS category then your fees will be reduce..

Yes both the categories i.e, general and general-ews are different as for general ews there is a reservation of 10% whereas for general there is no such reservation.
This category was imposed in January 2019 i.e, last year for those whose who are from general category but are economically weaker than other generals.
Candidate's annual family income must be less than Rs. 8 lakhs per annum. His family must not own more than 5 acres of agriculture land. The residential flat area should be below 1000 sq ft.
