Hello,
When you are done with all the admission procedures, the college authority give you a green colour stamp paper. This green paper is nothing but your Indemnity Bond . You are told to read it carefully and then sign the Bond. On that, it's written that " I will serve my State for 1 Year by working in State's Government Hospitals" . After you sign the Bond, you are now legally binded, that you are going to work for State either in Rural areas or in State's Government Hospitals after completing your 5.5 Years MBBS Course with Internship.
If after completing your course, you deny to work for the State, then you must have to pay the Penalty amount . In Karnataka, the penalty amount is somewhat near to Rs. 50 Lakhs . But, there are also some news that the state government will not accept the penalty from now onwards and the candidate must have to work for State Government Hospitals, otherwise necessary actions will be taken.
So, if you either join MBBS or BDS and then plans to leave in the midway, then it could be detrimental. This kind of bond is actually necessary because once the seat is allotted no one can get that seat. Because of him/her, other student looses his chance of getting his/her seat in medical college.
You can check Bond details of Karnataka here :-

I hope this makes you clear about the Bond as well as Penalty. All the Best.
Thank You.
