You can either give up your seat and appear for subsequent rounds of GATE counseling. But in case all the rounds of GATE counseling are over or in case your course has already begun, there is no chance that you can change your stream of specialisation.



There is another option as well, you can talk to the department head and ask him if there are any vacant seats in other courses, the chances are rare that there would be any vacant seats, but in case there is vacant seat then at the discretion of the HOD and other dignitaries, you might get the permission for internal sliding.
