There is no defence quota in PGIMER, Chndigarh. The various vategories of reservation available in the said institution is SC, ST, Rural Area [RA], OBC, Spon. and PWD. The percentage of seats reserved for various categories in PGIMER 2019 has been described below.
1. Other Backward Classes (OBC): 27% seats have been reserved for candidates belonging to OBC category. Such candidates, however, need to fulfill the minimum admission requirements of PGIMER 2019 which are as follows:
i. candidates need to obtain 50th percentile in the entrance test in order to be included in the merit list prepared for the OBC quota.

2. Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Caste (ST/SC): About 22.5% seats approximately are reserved for the ST/SC candidates. In order to secure admission under these categories, candidates need to score 50th percentile in the entrance which is the minimum admission requirement for PGIMER 2019. Candidates working/have worked in
3. Rural Areas: 5% of the total seats are reserved for candidates who are working or have rendered their services in any rural area (with a population less than 5000) for a period of at least two years until December 31 or June 30 for the January and July session respectively.
4. Persons with Disability: 3% of the total seats are reserved for candidates with benchmark disabilities under the PGIMER seat and reservation criteria 2019.
5. Sponsored Candidates: Certain seats through PGIMER 2019 are to be reserved for deputed/sponsored candidates nominated by institutions under Central/State Government, autonomous bodies of the Central Government or MCI recognized Public sector colleges. Such candidates also need to qualify in the entrance test and will be considered for admission only if the following criteria are fulfilled.
i. Candidates are employees and must have worked for at least three years with the sponsoring authority as on or before December 31/June 30 for the January/July session.
ii. Candidates after completing training with PGIMER Chandigarh will work for a period of five years in the field of training received with the concerned sponsoring authority. The sponsoring authority will bear all the financial implications of the candidate during the training period at PGIMER Chandigarh.
