Here are the names of Top Music Schools in India and a little insight on them. The order doesn’t have anything to do with ranking.

1. The True School of Music - This school is located right in the heart of Indian entertainment industry, Mumbai & it has completed 3 years recently. Founders are from the music industry and are actively involved in day to day running of the institute. At present, it has probably the best setup in terms of gear, instruments & overall facility ( Virtual Tour ). Though they teach many different western instruments and an exclusive Hindustani playback course designed by Shankar Mahadevan Academy (which isn’t even available in their own online institute), they are best known for Music Production and Sound Engineering programs. Industry connect is really strong and amazing networking opportunities since it’s in Mumbai.
2. Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music - Located about 90 kms from Chennai, it has a beautiful campus and abundant space. The faculty is also impressive and senior. One of the key founder of this school is Mr. Prasanna (renowned guitarist) who has now moved to LA hence he is not actively involved with the institute. They have an in house hostel facility hence students get to spend good time with teachers and can remain aloof in their music but on the flip side they also lack access & exposure to flourishing music industry (mainstream as well as independent) in cities like Mumbai, Delhi or Bengaluru.
3. K M Music Conservatory : This is the oldest institute among all mentioned here. The man behind this is none other than Mr. Rahman. Having said this, not to forget that he is not totally involved in teaching, mentoring or running the institute. It’s his sister who runs the institute. They offer course in Russian piano which is their specialty. Someone who intends to dig deep into western classical, opera singing or traditional western music should definitely consider this without any second thoughts.

There are many degrees available in music. You can do AD(Artist Diploma), BA, MA, PhD, BFA(Bachelor of Fine Arts), MFA(Master of Fine Arts), MM(Master of Music) and DMA(Doctor of Musical Arts) in Music.
