Army nurses must meet the same physical requirements as all members of the Army. This includes meeting the standards of height and weight and being able to pass the physical. Nurses are also required to take a physical fitness test every six months, including 2 miles, push-ups and sit-ups. The exact physical requirements vary from age to age. All Army nurses must be between the ages of 21 and 42 years.

An army personnel must possess physical fitness and mental awareness at every situation, either he/she is on the Battlefield, Food Area or at the Hospital. These are the qualities needed by an individual for joining the Army, if even she is a nurse.
Candidate must be physically fit according to the Military Boards and Authorities. Shortlisted candidates undergo the physical fitness test under Medical Board decided by DGAFMS. Candidates must possess binocular vision, fusion faculty, and full field vision in both eyes.
