Hi Aspirant,

Hope you are doing great.

No, you cannot get admission in IITs if you have scored less than 75% marks in the 12th standard. This criterion has been lifted off in 2020 when the covid erupt but now they get back to their old tradition. Now you have to score at least 75% marks if you want admission in IITs and for SC/ST it is 65% marks or you need to be in the top 20 percentile of your board. The age limit is that a candidate must be born on or after October 1, 1997, and there is 5 years relaxation for SC/ST candidates.

Hope this helps.

Hello Aspirant,

See you should have either 75% in class 12th or should be in top 20 percentile of your respective board's result then only you can be considered for admission to NITs or IITs on the basis of JEE-Main and JEE-Advance score respectively otherwise there is no way to get into them.

Also note that since last 2 years this criteria has been waived off due to the pandemic but most probably this year the criteria might get restored, so kindly wait until any official notification gets out.

JEE-Main eligibility criteria is mentioned below for your reference because with JEE-Main score you can also get admission in some GFTIs or private colleges for engineering courses :-

1--- Age criteria :- There is no age limit to appear in JEE-Main but note that there might be the age limit in any particular institution taking admission through JEE-Main score, so you should keep this thing in mind.

2--- Qualifying Examination   :- To be eligible for JEE-Main one should have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Mathematics as mandatory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subject from any of the recognized central or state board.

3--- Year of qualification   :- For JEE-Main 2022 only those candidates who have passed Class 12 / equivalent examination in 2020, 2021 or 2022; or those who will be appearing in Class 12th / equivalent examination in 2022, would be eligible to appear.

So if you follow all above criterion then you are definitely eligible for JEE-Main.
