Diversity is what almost all the top B schools are actually desiring for. This can be attributed to the fact that a stage of stagnancy is already been reached in these colleges and this is what is not is required in B schools because they have to produce future managers and leaders of the world and a good manager is the one who is worldly, well versed with almost the basics of all domains of study and knowledge and this could be effectively achieved if these colleges try to club students from different backgrounds and fields. This will serve dual purpose, one, meet the needs and requirements of the prospective recruiters and companies and two, enhance the quality of participation in the class because what is known to engineers might not be know to those who are not, and what non-engineers would be aware of, would not be open to the engineers and peer learning is given absolute importance in MBA colleges.

So, yes definitely you will get weight not only while getting calls but also in the final cumulative score sheet.  You wonderfully add to diversity but do not forget that now you are going to compete with the best lot of students, so prepare to that level too.
