Hi Chavan Arjun. My cousin also applied for BITS HD but she couldn't clear her exam.

I asked her about the preparation she took for the exam and she told me that she referred to this link on Careers360:

https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/bits-hd-syllabus?amp

Also, I would please advice you to refer to the following links:

  • http://www.theexamresult.com/forum/suggested-books-m-tech-entrance-bits-pilani-what-cutoff-marks-m-tech-computer-science-193.html

Hope this helps you and all the best!

Hey Arjun

In general BITS-HD has more emphasis on theoretical questions as opposed to the numerical type questions in GATE. The number of questions to be attempted in 120 mins is around 100 which is similar to the pattern of IES. So, my advice to you would be to go through the previous year IES questions thoroughly along with GATE papers, and focus more on theoretical aspects of the important topic of mechanical. Also, there are few extra topics in BITS-HD syllabus as opposed to that of GATE, do make sure to prepare them as well. Prepare well for first paper as well( Maths and English you can score fully with sufficient prep), because more often than not, people scoring well in first paper get an extra edge over others. For getting Pilani Campus try getting close to 190 out of total marks.

The first paper will be common to all branches containing questions of Programming, Management and English, Physics, Maths. Out of these sections one can score well in Maths and English sections with sufficient prep from GATEs material for maths and any higher secondary textbook for English. For, Physics u can refer to 11/12 class NCERT, but always keep in mind this section is difficult to score as compared to others. For, Programming Yeshwanth Kanethkars standard textbook is sufficient. I have heard that pattern for first paper is changing this year, and some sections are being completely removed. Do see to the changes first and prepare accordingly. Wishing you all the success ahead..

All the very best. :)
