Hope you are doing great. In the context of the Indian higher education system, a reservation quota basically means that a predetermined number of seats are set aside in all universities and colleges for students from different castes, such as SC and ST, or those who are socially and educationally disadvantaged. Universities are expected to provide 15% reservations for SC, 7.5% for ST, and 27% for OBC (non-creamy layer). But they only reserve 50% of the seats for students of color.
