Biotechnology is a research based field and nowadays many studnets opt for it. However you haven't mentioned if you are asking this for BSc or B.Tech degree. But there is not much difference. If you are truly passionate about Biotechnology, you can surely go for this. Doing BTech/BSc in Biotechnology makes you job ready, as well as if you are interested in higher studies.
Biotechnology is one of the fastest growing fields with a range of opportunities. Biotechnology graduates can work in various sectors like Pharmaceutical companies, Nutrition, Chemical Industry, Research firms, Waste Management, Clinical Laboratories, Productions, R&D Sectors etc.
If you are interested in Teaching profession, you must complete MSc/MTech. Doing higher studies, increases your chances of getting into a company with handsome salary packages. As this is mostly a research based field, most of the students go for PhD.
