Hi Muhammed Shabeer,

There is a lot of scope in both metallurgy engineering and material science as this is nearly the base of all the industries.

Down below there is given a brief description about both the jobs-

Metallurgist: job description. Metallurgists develop and manufacture metal items and structures that range from tiny precision-made components to huge engineering parts. Metallurgists usually specialise in a specific area such as process, chemical or structural metallurgy.

Job Description of a Materials Engineer. Materials engineers typically specialize in metals, plastics or ceramics. They may develop composite materials, or study the atomic structure of materials in order to discover new applications for their mechanical, electrical or chemical properties.

Now I'll tell you the basic jobs one can do as either of the engineering-

Material engineer-

  • Ceramic engineers develop ceramic materials and the processes for making them into useful products, from high-temperature rocket nozzles to glass for LCD flat-panel displays.
  • Composites engineers develop materials with special, engineered properties for applications in aircraft, automobiles, and related products.
  • Metallurgical engineers specialize in metals, such as steel and aluminum, usually in alloyed form with additions of other elements to provide specific properties.
  • Plastics engineers develop and test new plastics, known as polymers, for new applications.
  • Semiconductor processing engineers apply materials science and engineering principles to develop new microelectronic materials for computing, sensing, and related applications.

Metallurgical engineer-

  • Administer everyday production, develop plans to upgrade plant and ensure optimal level of quality assurance.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing managers and ensure continuous improvement of all plant in terms of productivity and technical reliability.
  • Collaborate with supervisor and ensure compliance to all environmental and safety procedures of plant operations.
  • Assist Project Manager to prepare appropriate project budget and schedule and ensure adherence to same.
  • Work with various departments, identify development opportunities and design strategies for improvement.
  • Analyze projects and use various qualitative devices to ensure constant development of same.
  • Train and assist employees in work and ensure efficiency.

Here I have given a few places where one can work after doing UG in any of these fields.

Comment down below for any other queries.

Cheers!!

Yes, there are many scope for metallurgical engineers nowadays. In metallurgy, student basically studies about physical and chemical behavior of metallic elements..Metallurgical engineers help to develop or improve the metals that aur used in health care, transportation etc. After completing this, you can also educate students about the physical and chemical properties of metals.

Thank you!!

Hello Muhammed Shabeer UH............

Yes there is a scope for engineering in metallurgy and matrerial science, students on completion of this course become professional and capable of assembling metals to produce materials that can meet the industrial requirements, experts in this field are mostly required by aircraft and oven industry.

All the best

Thank you

future scope in this branch or any other branch depends upon how and what  you see in that branch .
I  can tell you what i feel about metallurgy .
well, broadly you can divide this branch in two broad categories
1. research
2 industry
areas where research is going on in this field are smart materials ,sensors ,nano materials  and various other ares  and jobs in this sector mainly include in reserch institues and many R&D section of companies like intel and many more. and also huge amount of research is done in this field in other countries also ( DAKOTA SCHOOL OF MINES IN USA)
2nd option that is industry
there are various types of industries
1 Non ferrous extraction :- VEDANTA ,HINDUSTAN ZINC LIMITED ,SESA STERALITE , RIO TINTO.
2.Steel plants :-JINDAL STEEL ,TATA STEEL
3. Foundries ( this is basically a casting industy wher gaer box housing and various other type of castings are there ,which are made in foundries ):-MAHINDRA ,SWARAJ ,TATA MOTORS .

pay package depend upon various factors , like which company ,what position you hold there etc .
it is also true that in most (not all cases) working conditions are bit tough

Metallurgy and Materials Engineering is the study of metals and materials. It is the most emerging branch of study and everything is made up of some material, metal or alloy.

After completion of your engineering , you can join any metal industry( Steel plant, Aluminium plant , Copper industry etc.) or manufacturing company or go for developing new materials and study of their properties such as Carbon nano tube or modelling and simulation of materials .

Their is no end in this field of study whether it comes to job or higher studies and research.

All the best!

Engineering branches like material Science and Metallurgy are considered to be core branches and have a lot of jobs in Public Sector companies. If you opt for these branches then the best way to get the job via these branches is through GATE paper and you can secure good rank there to get jobs in PSUs.

PSUs or Public Sector Units are companies that are mostly government operated as more than 50% of their shares are with the government. So jobs in these companies are government jobs that are secure and relaxing jobs just like other jobs.

Hope you have got your answer, and if you are going to opt for these then make PSUs your aim.
