Hi,
There are no provisions for state quota reservations in IITs until now. IITs are central funded institutes where admissions are given based on the performance of candidates in JEE main and Advanced. But in the case of NITs reservation criteria exists, 50% seats are reserved under home state quota while the rest of 50% are left for candidates of other states. Herein, the ‘Home State Quota’ is for reservation of candidates belonging to the state where the particular NIT in question is located, while the ‘Other State Quota’ is for the candidates under reserved categories and belonging to the state other than the one in which that NIT is located. Hope this helps. To know more about reservation criteria of JEE main please go through the following article

Hello Aspirant,
NITs were founded to promote regional diversity and multi-cultural understanding in India. Comprising thirty autonomous institutes, they are located in one each major state/territory of India. In 2007,the Indian government declared these schools as Institute of National Importance for which home state quota was introduced but IITs were not founded for the said purpose rather they were to be designed with the necessary dynamism, flexibility of organization and capacity to adapt in the light of expanding knowledge and changes in the socio-economic requirements of modern society without being bent towards a region for which there is NO HOME STATE QUOTA in IITs
