Dear Mahak, the answer is straight No. There is a mandatory internship for a period of 6 months. You are posted in different departments that might help you develop your skills as a physiotherapist. These departments might be Cardio thoracic departments, Neuro, Orthopaedics, etc. You will be posted for internship in the same city that your college is located in. There is no Rural area Bond in Physiotherapy.

PT, Bachelor of Physiotherapy is a 4 year course and 6 months internship program which enables a person to practice physiotherapy as a qualified practitioner. After your plus two you've to apply for a Bachelor's degree in a reputed university and college which has to be an IAP(Indian Association of Physiotherapists) recognized university and college also. There are many colleges which are not IAP recognized, so before you apply go through the IAP website to find out the IAP recognized colleges near you. There are no entrance exams for BPT. You must have 50% marks in your plus two science with biology and you will be alloted according to the merit list based on your marks.

After completing your BPT you can think about a masters(MPT) if you want to specialise in one of the many specialties like Orthopedics, Sports, Neurology, Pediatrics, etc

Physiotherapy is a professional bachelor degree which ensure you a job when you pass out. Mostly you will get a job in a month or two. You can work as a qualified healthcare professional. You can work in a hospital, physiotherapy clinic or you can set up your own clinic and practice independently. The opportunities to earn are also very good in physiotherapy if you work hard. Chances abroad are very huge but you will need to clear the licensing exams of the particular country.I will say that physiotherapy is in its growing phase. Previously awareness about physiotherapy was very minimal among general population. But now the scenario has changed. Everybody knows what physiotherapy is and what they can do.In the next five years demand of specialized physiotherapist will increase. Physiotherapy is becoming more specific. Many of the clinics in India are treating a particular speciality only. It has already begun. We can expect a lot of centers like this coming in the next five years. Like centre for neuro rehabilitation, centre for ortho related injuries, centre for sports physiotherapy, centre for women health, etc. So you can guess this is gonna be one of the strongest profession in near future.
