IGNOU i.e. the Indira Gandhi National Open University does not provide you with a bachelor's degree or diploma in mass communication. It only has a PG diploma course in journalism and mass communication. 

Under the school of IGNOU there is the School of Journalism & New Media Studies (SOJNMS) in the University with the mandate to offer quality academic programmes, conduct research and training and organise seminars and workshops in varied aspects of media and communication.

The nation-wide network of regional centres and study centres is used for implementing the programmes. The SOJNMS strives to address the emergent needs of the discipline of Journalism & Mass Communication in India and aims to develop human resource through it's own medium of education.

There is a post graduate diploma in journalism and mass communication available in Indira Gandhi National open university (IGNOU), which requires a the candidate to have a bachelor's degree with 2 year's experience in a media/ communication organization. However, there is no undergrate course available in mass communication in the Institute.
