Hi,

MEC Stands for Mathematics, Commerce and Economics group of subjects. See, to prepare for IAS Exam, you can go with any subject combination. There are many toppers which are from different backgrounds, some are from B.TECH, some from MBBS, some from B.SC and some from BA and more. See, there is no as such fixed pattern which makes you ensure that choosing a particular subject combination can help you in IAS. The syllabus for the exam is well devised and you can prepare it accordingly with any of the subject combination you choose. The exam just require consistent and productive study along with understanding of the syllabus.

Hey Akhil!

Definitely yes.

But these days more than your stream , dedication and hark work matters. If you have interest in MEC  ,I would suggest you to go for that.

Mathematics, Economics and Commerce is the best combination one should go for.

Economics is a main subject in General Studies Paper -II

Mathematics is a very important part of CSAT.

These subjects will also help you to create a strong grip in the finance management.

Like you have mentioned UPSC CSE is your plan A but Entrepreneur,Marketing Manager, Consultant can be your Plan B with these subjects.
