There are various kinds of Higher Education Institutions in our Country like - Central University ,Deemd University ,Private University. All of these need to be approved by the University Grants Commission, which is the regulatory body. Himalayan University in Arunachal Pradesh has been approved by the UGC as a State Private University .This means that it is eligible to award degrees, but not open off-campus centres beyond the state territorial Jurisdiction. According to the new list of 06-10-2017 there are 185 State Private Universities. Although these are funded by other societies ,the UGC may include them under section 12(B), which would make them eligible for funds. This has not happened as of now.
