In my opinion, UPES Dehradun is the right choice. The curriculum, campus, teachers and the placements, everything that the college offers is great. University is also known for their student exchange programs that help students get global exposure. In addition, they also conduct PEP classes to groom your personality and make you industry-ready.
And no there is no disadvantage that UPES is a petroleum university. My friend studied there and told me a lot about the university. He is now working in an MNC at a great pay scale. UPES dehradun is a good college but its fees structure is very high its around 13-14 lkh excluding hostel fees if you can afford its better to take admission because its placement is really very good and infrastructure and faculty are also very good . BOTH  the universities are private but upes dehradun has better name than gd goenka but there are also other things matters like fees and where u want to go during placemnt ur knowledge matters u can get placements from both universities . For taking admission in upes dehradun  u have to clear UPESEAT tht is conducted by the university but there are other options also like the management qouta by for tht again u have pay some amt  . and same in gd goenka , gurgaon.
