You must master all the latest technologies like scss and frameworks like angular and react and understand the basics of CSS etc. if you require a good skills in web design then indeed you will get good placements and good salary packages.

you must also learn few softwares like Adobe XD etc.

Make an id on codepen and showcase your work there. It is a platform for sharing work by the designers.
