After class 10th there are two roads that can be taken, 10+3 scheme which includes going for diploma/polytechnic/ITI and 10+2+3/4 scheme which includes going for senior secondary for two years and for 3/4 year graduation either in basic science or engineering.

Going for diploma after class 10th is a two way road, there are some advantages and some disadvantages associated with it.

Many of the aspirants go for diploma after class 10th mainly because their financial situation is not very well and they want to complete their studies at the get a job as soon as possible.

Whereas going for class 12th will have different sets of advantages and disadvantages. Let's list out all so that you can make a more informed decision.

Advantages of 10+3 scheme:

1. Job Prospect:

If your current financial situation demands you to get a decent job as soon as possible, polytechnic/ diploma/ ITI is a very good option for you. Many govt. agencies like Indian Railways, CPWD, PSU's like ONGC, IOCL etc. recruit for the post of Junior Engineer, loco pilot in railways, and various other roles, for which the eligibility criteria is 10+3, and even many engineering graduates apply for these after 4 years of engineering. If you work hard, you can end up with a very decent job in a very early age of your career.

Private job prospect is also very good, diploma holders have more hands on experience as compared to engineering graduates, hence you can end up with better job here, but in starting few years, the pay packages will be very less, but gradually with experience it will increase.

2. Cost of Education:

The cost of Education in 10+3 scheme is minimal as compared to 10+2+3/4 scheme. Your technical education will be done not in much cheaper cost but time you save will be 3 years. Suppose your friend choose up to go for 10+2+4 scheme and choose to go for B.Tech, if you are lucky, you will already have 3 year of working experience when your friend will just be a fresher.

3. Future Prospect:

Suppose at the end of your diploma, you decide to go for a full fleged B.Tech degree, you can take admission directly into second year of B.Tech as today many good colleges offer B.Tech Lateral Entry to diploma holders.

Suppose, after doing job for 2-3 years you find there is a big gap between your earning and efforts, you can go for certificate courses, also many organizations like Indian Railways offer an exam after 5 years of service as Junior Engineer to take up and exam and go for better opportunities in future inside the organization only.

And if you work in private sector, you can always make a switch into a company providing better opportunities, or rather take up some certificate examinations later on for better opportunities in future.

Advantages of 10+2+3/4 scheme:

This is mainly the list of things that you will miss if you choose 10+3 scheme.

1. Job Opportunities:

Just after your 10+2, you can join defense (Army, Navy, Air-force, Cost Guard) as an officer. That's class 1 officer rank you can achieve at the earliest point of your life. As an officer you have totally different kind of opportunities, you take your own decisions, you have certain number of people under you, you are responsible for progress in any project. This is a completely different type of job.

After 10+2+3/4 you have a full fleged degree in your hand in either pure sciences or engineering, job prospect is almost the same as diploma holders, but the quality of job is completely different. If you work for PSUs like ONGC, IOCL etc you will be executive engineers and will command small team of diploma holders, if you work for any government organization as Junior engineer, you will be working with fellow diploma holders, whereas if you work as an officer, you will have more then 100 diploma holders under you.

Main difference is the quality of job, faster promotions and more social respect, also the scope of your future becomes much wider.

2. Higher Education:

After you graduation, you can go for masters in both technical and non technical fields. You get a wider and more deeper understanding of how things in this world work rather then just being a cog in some big machine.

3. Exposure:

Exposure as a graduate is on completely different level. You get to meet / sit/ discuss with people who are top of this food chain. It will develop a completely different kind of mind set.

Some similarities between the both.

1. Industry work:

Since you are thinking of diploma in Computer Science, let me tell you, it is governened by completely different rules.

• You expertise and abilities will surpass any degree. If you develop excellent coding and problem solving skills, you will always be paid higher then you B.Tech/M.Tech counter part. Industry don't care about degree, it cares about the skills, although this is not the case in every branch.
• In starting, you will paid less then a B.Tech graduate, for doing the same work. However harsh it might sound, it is the truth. The company which my friend works at hiers more diploma holders then engineering graduates just for the sake of cost cutting. You will be paid half or one third of B.Tech grads. This is only for private jobs. Also, once you develop good contacts and skills that are in demand in the industry, it is totally the game of skills not degree.

Actually if you do the Diploma is the best option to do the engineering why because after 10th class of you go for diploma it will help you alot in diploma you will learn required technical skills this program is 3 years and also after this you can go to engineering 2nd year if you want or else based on diploma also you will get job if you join engineering means overall you will hold two degrees
