I've applied for Anna Univ sports quota After selecting a college thru sports quota & if am not satisfied, can I go for general counselling

I have checked with DOTE and they confirmed that I will automatically go for general counselling even I select or donot select a college during sports counselling. If I selected and rejected it, they will return only Rs.4000 back and take Rs.1000 from the initial deposit
