Hi Anita,
See there is no fixed cut off for CAT exam. CAT cut-off varies from college to college. With 99.6 percentile you can get admission in a college and with 70 percentile also you can get admission in a b-school. The difference that lies in between the quality and rank of the college.
With 95+ percentile you will be able to get admission in the top b-school of our country like IIMs, FMS, SP Jain, IIT Bombay and many more but with 70 percentile you will end up in a college which is below average and where you might not end up with a very good job after MBA.
Also, one more thing after you get the CAT result accept IIMs all the colleges where you are interested you need to apply for admission then every college including IIMs prepares a merit list to call students for next round of interview and WSAT based on your aggregate score which comprises of many parameters such as CAT marks, 10th, 12th and graduation percentage, work experience, engineer or non-engineer, gender whose weight varies for all different IIMs.
MBA/PGDM Admissions OPEN
So, you need to know higher the percentile higher will be your chance of ending in a top b-school. Atleast aim for 90+ percentile to get in a good b-school. And one more thing that along with CAT percentile you need to have a strong profile.
CAT eligibility : The candidate must have completed his/her graduation (bachelor’s degree) or passed an equivalent qualifying examination from a recognized college or university.
He/she should have scored minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PWD) . The bachelor’s degree must be of minimum 3 years’ duration .
CS/CA/ICWA candidates and candidates who are in their final year of college are also eligible to apply. Work hard and do more practice on the questions you are not able to solve. Just giving mock tests will not work, rather try to improvise upon the area you are lacking. Don't get demotivated with low percentile in mock tests. Give test without thinking about percentile. Don't deviate from your aim which is to maximise the questions to be attempted with accuracy.
