I've completed my 12th grade now . Can I choose btech CSE to give GATE exam . Should I take only btech CSE and Information technology as both as single course or will I be able to choose anyone courses in Btech CSE and IT ?
You do not require a GATE score for Btech. GATE has more to do with higher studies or getting a job at an estimated PSU's after your graduation.
You can pursue Mtech or ME with your valid GATE score or gets placed as an assistant engineer in one of the PSU's like ONGC, SAIL, NTPC, etc
Graduates appearing for the final year or who have passed the final year can apply for GATE. Therefore, You can apply for GATE when you're in your last year of Btech or after graduation. GATE Paper code CS is for computer science and IT candidates.

To pursue BTech you should either qualify JEE or any one of these exams like SRMJEEE, VITEEE, MET, JET, etc. (Depends on the university you are seeking admission in)
Both CSE and IT are very much in demand. To opt for CSE or IT is firstly your interest and secondly the career goal that you are looking to achieve. Do not confuse the two to be the same. CSE and IT has subtle nuances. You can opt for any one of these courses.
CSE focuses more on the design and development of new programs, applications, etc. Hence it requires strong coding skills, algorithms, and so on.
You can work as a software developer, web developer, or software engineer.
CSE and its specialization:
- CSE and AI
- CSE and information security
- CSE and data science
IT on the other hand focuses on providing technical solutions to business. Therefore a first-hand knowledge of networking, managing data is required.
You can work as a system administrator or a network administrator or database manager.
IT and its specializations:
- IT and cybersecurity
- IT and digital investigation
- IT and network administration and management.
Salary: The average salary of a software engineer is 6,00,000 per annum
Salary of a system administrator: 4,00,000 per annum.
Every engineering discipline has its pros and cons. It also depends on the current market trends and the demand of a particular discipline. As far as CSE or IT are concerned they can never be a dying profession as the technology is advancing at no bounds.
Also please keep in mind, new technologies keep coming into the market frequently hence it is cardinal for a software engineer or persons in IT to keep themselves updated with the latest market trends. (just a heads up).
