Java is one of the popular programming languages. For advance coder java is quite easy.  It is also platform independent. It is much more advanced and easy to use as compared to C.  It has data types,  classes, objects.

•Static typing
•Curly braces used for noting the start and end of functions
•Programs are larger
•Does not compile native bytecode
•Can be run on any operating system that can run the Java Virtual Machine
•Cannot change data types of variables
•Object-oriented programming is mandatory

Where as Python is high level programming language which doesn't make the use of data types. It's much more easier and user friendly as compared to Java.

Characteristic of Python

•Programs are small and therefore run much faster
•You need less code to create a program
•This program is slow in execution
•Compiles native bytecode
•You can assign a string to a variable that once held an integer
•Easier to read and understand relative to Java
•Is not supported across a wide variety of platforms
•Object-oriented programming is optional

If you are beginner in coding you should opt python. Because it's easier to learn but if you want to know basics concept of learning you should opt JAVA.

One option is first learn PYTHON AND THEN JAVA.  It will surely help you understand basics concepts and idea before those concepts.
