Sri R. L. Jalappa, a visionary, social worker, and educationist, founded R. L. Jalappa Institute of Technology (RLJIT) in 2001 in Doddballapur, Bangalore Rural District. RLJIT is a branch of the Sri Devaraj Urs Educational Trust (SDUET), which was created in Kolar in 1986 to serve the rural and disadvantaged classes.
