You can give JEE main examination in your class 12th board appearing year and the next two consecutive years while for JEE advanced you can attempt it in your class 12th board appearing year and the next year only.

But yes,
To be eligible for NITs, IIITs, CFTIs one needs at least 75% marks in class 12th if belongs to General or OBC category or at least 65% marks in class 12th if belongs to Sc or St category or needs to be in top 20 percentile of their board examination. This minimum percentage barrier in 12th was lifted off for the year 2021 i. e jee main 2021, if lifted again for jee main 2022 , then NTA will notify about it.

JEE ADVANCED
jee advanced eligibility criteria is given below :-
--------) you need to pass your class 12th with at least 75% marks in aggregate in class 12 if belong to general or obc category or at least 65% marks if belongs to SC/ST or must be in the top 20 percentile in class 12 examination. For this year i. e 2021 this percentage requirement in class 12th has been lifted off.
-------) You can give JEE advanced examination for the maximum of consecutive 2 years starting from the year of appearing for your 12th examination i. e to be eligible for JEE advanced 2022 your 12th board examination appearing year should be either 2022 or 2021 .

IF you have candidate who has passed the 12th class or its equivalent exam in the year 2020, 2021, or appearing in 2022 can apply for the entrance exam are eligible to give JEE Main 2022 exam. The dates for registration of JEE Main 2022 are not yet declared. It is expected that the officials will soon release the application form. Candidates will be able to access the application form of JEE Main 2022 on the NTA JEE Mains website at jeemain.nta.nic.in 2022. The JEE Mains exam will be conducted 4 times this year too. March session, April session, May session and June session. Keep an eye on the official website or the below link for the latest information.
