Hello Priya,
JIPMER exam is actually the easiest exam in terms of difficulty of the exam. Most of the questions asked are even easier than those asked in NEET.
The ratio of the difficulty levels of JIPMER, NEET and AIIMS is loosely 0.75:1:1.5.
The JIPMER exam syllabus is based on the Tamil Nadu state board syllabus, and so CBSE students find it easy but some topics which are exclusive to Tamil Nadu state board might need some input from your end.
Also, 10 questions are from English language and 10 are from logical reasoning and unlike AIIMS GK, you do not need to prepare specially for it. It cannot be worked upon sufficiently well in a fortnight.
Also, JIPMER is the only medical entrance exam now with no negative marking and that makes it even easier as you can attempt all questions and have the liberty to make guesses.
But what makes selection into JIPMER tough is the number of seats. Unlike AIIMS, there are not many branches of JIPMER.
Even after addition of JIPMER Karaikal, the number of seats is very less at <150 for general category students and I think that atleast 1 lac students take the exam. So the acceptance rate is just ~0.15%.
If we were to compare the selection rates(difficulty) of AIIMS Delhi, new AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry, it would be in the following order
AIIMS Delhi(~0.02%) > JIPMER Puducherry (~0.1%) > New AIIMS(0.5–1%)
But the reputation of JIPMER Puducherry is very high and it constantly features in the top 3 medical colleges of the country.
Like AIIMS, it is an autonomous institute, is under the central government which comes with its own set of advantages like more research opportunities, better infrastructure, etc.
Thanku.
