In the year 2020, the Government of Sikkim will recognise the Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education by legislation under Act 14. The Association of Indian Universities has validated the Sikkim government's education system and its diplomas for admission to higher education courses. The Government of Sikkim's open schooling has been recognised by the NIOS National Institute of Open Schooling of India. As a result, all certificates and degrees issued by the Sikkim Government's Board of Open School and Skill Education are valid for any form of admission in India and abroad.
