Hey Diksha,

Bachelor of Arts + Bachelor of Laws or B.A. LL.B is a dual degree professional course in administrative law discipline. This course is of 5-years duration. In national law universities, admission is based on entrance examinations, so is in most state universities. In those who do not have entrances, admission is made on the basis of merit.

Reputed colleges such as UPES Dehradun and ILS Law College, Pune offers admission based on class 12th marks. Apart from this, many private colleges also offer admission without entrance test but they might have a written test and personal interview.

But still, if you want to join this course, it will be better that you give entrance examination because national and state law schools are always better than private universities . And entrance examination of BA LLB has questions related to social science, Reasoning, Legal Aptitude, General Knowledge/Current Affairs, Mathematics, and English. You can give the following entrance examinations-

1. CLAT: Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a centralized test for admission to 21 National Law Universities in India. Apart from that, 43 other education institutes and two public sector institutes are also eligible to use these scores. Application forms are available from January to March and the exam is conducted in the month of May.

2. AILET: All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) is a university-level law entrance examination conducted by National Law University, Delhi. Application forms are available from January to April and the exam is in the month of May.

3.LSAT: Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is conducted by Pearson VUE on behalf of Law School Admission Council based out of the USA for admission to the five-year integrated undergraduate programme offered by around eighty-five law schools in India. Application forms are available from October to May and exam in the month of May.

State-level entrance exams-

You can also give various state level examinations of your own state and others too. For instance, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore Institute of Law, Jiwaji University etc. have their own entrance examinations. For more details about them, you can visit the official site of the particular college.

Private Universities

Private colleges such as Career College of Law etc. provide admissions without entrances too. The eligibility mention is 50% in class 12. If you want to completely avoid entrances, you can opt for them.

Admissions are generally open till August because result and counseling are usually in June and July. Still, it will be better you refer to the official site of the college of your choice to know the exact details.

I hope I was able to answer your questions. If you have any other doubt, feel free to ask.

Good Luck!
