JEE is one of the most competed exams in India and for 2020 JEE main exam around 9,300,00 candidates have applied and the total seats available are 30,814 seats including B.tech, B. arch, B. plan.
So by taking a break after 10+2 will help you to prepare well and give the best out of you in the exam.JEE Paper 1 has Physics, Chemistry and mathematics. Paper 2 has Mathematics, Apptitude and drawing. Paper 3 has Mathematics, Aptitude test and planning based questions.
There are a lot of coaching centres available, if you can't manage the preparation by yourself or need good attention, then you can choose these centres famously located at Kota, Rajasthan.
If you are confident and can manage the syllabus then lot of quality coachings are available online which you can choose. You have to choose which is better for you.
Hope you get it, All the best
First of all I hope you will crack your jee in first attempt ..but unfortunately if that not happen then no problem thousands of students take break and study and prepare for jee mains..
So coming to the question self study and tution not are important for the jee mains .. In tution you have to face competition there will be number of students for them you have to compete so the enthusiasm for studies you will gain.. and a self study is very important after the tution you have to give time in self study.. self study is most important and in online courses we students get distracted very easily of you in online courses you study according to your comfort that's not good if you want to crack jee you have to go beyond comfort level so that's only done when you join some institution and you get some competition that will help you to concentrate in your studies more and more
And in last it's all depend on you how you want to study .. study anywhere the main thing is to be serious towards your goal

Good luck for your future
So my advice would be to join a coaching institute and practice and keep learning on a daily basis.
