Hello,

Mass is a scalar. Weight is a force which is vector. Weight and mass related to each other but they are not the same quantities. When momentum is a vector quantity.

All the best.

Hello,

Mass is a scalar quantity. The gravitational acceleration is a vector quantity which has magnitude and direction. As a result, the weight of the object is a vector quantity because of its gravitational acceleration. However, the mass of the object is a scalar quantity.

If two objects come together to form a single aggregate object, the mass of the product is equal to the sum of the masses of the original objects. If mass had a direction associated with it, then two masses could come together to form a massless object - that never happens (annihilation produces two photons, not one, and besides this argument would work with rubber balls, not just elementary particles, and rubber balls don’t annihilate).

Hope this helps!!!
