MCA stands for master of computer application , it is of 3 years long professional post graduate programme and according to AICTE , the basic eligibility criteria to pursue MCA is candidate must have done BCA/BSC/BCOM/BA degree with mathematics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level or at graduation with a minimum aggregate of 50 percent to 60percent in bachelors
please note eligibility criteria may differ college to college , this is just an overview

see mca course is generally three years, colleges like NITS, vit vellore offers mca , i.e master of computer application of 3 years duration. now coming to mca course duration some of the university has lateral entry admission process for students who are coming from Bachelor in Computer Application (BCA), Bachelor of Science (B Sc) in information technology, may join mca from second year of studies.
