Dear Manvinder,
I don't think Chandigarh University is good for mechanical engineering. Though CU is good for CSE branch but for core branches it is not a place to opt for.
More than 50 companies visited CU for campus placements for Mechanical Engineering this year. Out of which highest package was offered by Deepak Nitrate LTD of 6.5 lacs per annum.
Now you can see the statistics. Being a private college a bunch of students study there. So it is very difficult to grab opportunity as only 50 companies visit the campus.
But if you are a good student and have good knowledge of core subject there is probability you may get a on campus job .
In case you don't get it, go for off campus job placement.
