Mechanical vs aerospace engineering which is better
Aerospace engineers and mechanical engineers both work on the development and construction of equipment and devices. The major difference between these two are that the former is relatively narrow fiel focusing on airplanes and other aerospace related machines. by contrast mechanical engineering is a broad field that encompasses work in a wide variety of industries and serving a multitude of purposes. Aerospace engineers tackles aerodynamics and flight mechanics in a way that mechanical engineer typically do not. Now coming to the career options after completing BTech in mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering. Well aerospace engineers are highly paid professions in the engineering job market. However in recent years the availability of aerospace engineers increased drastically. Key areas of employment after completing aerospace engineering are are in space research centres like NASA and ISRO, aeronautical development establishment, aeronautical laboratories, aircraft manufacturing companies, defence research and development organisation, defence services, department of Civil aviation etc. in case of mechanical Engineering jobs directly related to your degree include automobile engineering contracting civil engineering control and instrumentation Engineering etc. But nowadays demand of Mechanical Engineering in market has drastically decreased and the median salary it is also not up to the mark. Now the choice is yours if you you can pursue mechanical engineering from an well-established institute is obviously a good choice.
Hope you have understood.
Hey,
The major difference between Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering is that, the first one deals with working of machines and devices while the latter focuses on things that fly and orbit the Earth in space.
Aerospace Engineers are more likely to work for the military and government as compared to Mechanical Engineers. While it comes to employment, mechanical Engineering has a wider scope.
Both Mechanical as well as Aerospace Engineers get a decent salary.
At the end, all that matters is which stream you are more inclined to. When you do what interests you the most is when you will be successful in life.
Choose your path accordingly.
All the best.
Mechanical Engineering has broader technical, research and career prospects than Aerospace Engineering, though both are of immense importance. A Mechanical Engineer is often recruited by Materials or Aerospace Industries like Rolls Royce, ISRO, GE or Boeing, but the Vice Versa is not true. You will hardly find an Aerospace Engineer working in Mechanical Industries like NTPC, Tata Motors, JSW Steel and so on. I believe you have effectively understood what I mean. Dear student
It is your choice, both fields have their own perks. Let me explain:
In aerospace engineering, you can expect to get most of the jobs in either government or military, however there are not nearly as many job opportunities as mechanical engineering.
In mechanical engineering, you have much more job opportunities but since it is one of the widely selected field, there is a really high competition. Mechanical engineering has one more advantage, there are more institutes providing mechanical engineering degree than aerospace engineering.
So in the end, it's a draw, choose whichever you prefer.
Hey Aspirant,
Aerospace engineers are more likely to work for the military or government than mechanical engineers, and they may be involved with designing weapons or satellites. Mechanical engineers can be involved with designing and building things as varied as robots and generators to elevator and automobile systems.
Choose according to your wish.
All the best!!
