Hey,
The major difference between Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering is that, the first one deals with working of machines and devices while the latter focuses on things that fly and orbit the Earth in space.
Aerospace Engineers are more likely to work for the military and government as compared to Mechanical Engineers. While it comes to employment, mechanical Engineering has a wider scope.
Both Mechanical as well as Aerospace Engineers get a decent salary.
At the end, all that matters is which stream you are more inclined to. When you do what interests you the most is when you will be successful in life.
Choose your path accordingly.
All the best.
College Comparison based on Courses, Placement, Rank, Fee
Mechanical Engineering has broader technical, research and career prospects than Aerospace Engineering, though both are of immense importance. A Mechanical Engineer is often recruited by Materials or Aerospace Industries like Rolls Royce, ISRO, GE or Boeing, but the Vice Versa is not true. You will hardly find an Aerospace Engineer working in Mechanical Industries like NTPC, Tata Motors, JSW Steel and so on. I believe you have effectively understood what I mean. Dear student
It is your choice, both fields have their own perks. Let me explain:
In aerospace engineering, you can expect to get most of the jobs in either government or military, however there are not nearly as many job opportunities as mechanical engineering.
In mechanical engineering, you have much more job opportunities but since it is one of the widely selected field, there is a really high competition. Mechanical engineering has one more advantage, there are more institutes providing mechanical engineering degree than aerospace engineering.
So in the end, it's a draw, choose whichever you prefer.
Hey Aspirant,
Aerospace engineers are more likely to work for the military or government than mechanical engineers, and they may be involved with designing weapons or satellites. Mechanical engineers can be involved with designing and building things as varied as robots and generators to elevator and automobile systems.
Choose according to your wish.
