The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is an undergraduate degree programme in the medical field. A person holding the MBBS degree becomes a certified medical practitioner. It takes a duration of 5.5 years for the completion of the degree including one year of rotational internship at hospitals, health centres, and health camps organised by non-profit organisations. MBBS course includes the study of human anatomy, human cytology, medicine, chemistry, pharmaceutical, chemistry, drugs formulation & effect and method of surgery. The MBBS is one of the most sought courses after Class 12 (Science) in the medical field.

The career specialisations for MBBS students are Nephrology, Cardiology, Gynecology, Anesthesiology, Organ Transplant, Endocrine, and General Surgery, etc.

The Government Medical College Silvassa has a total capacity of 150 MBBS seats. Out of these, 15% ( 22 seats) will be reserved under 'All India Quota' catagory, out of which 50% ( 11 seats) will be available for the Unreserved (General) All India Quota Candidates.

Admission to MBBS Courses in India in Medical Colleges approved by MCI is through NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (UG) [NEET (UG)] except for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament e.g. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry.

It is mandatory for candidates to appear in NUMS-MDCAT & Aptitude Test for admission in public and private sector Medical/Dental Colleges constituent of I or affiliated with NUMS. ... Mere appearance in NUMS-MDCAT & Aptitude Test does not make a candidate eligible for admission in any Medical/ Dental institution.
